I’ve worked in many different areas of epidemiology over the years. This has had advantages and disadvantages. I’m definitely a jack-of-all-trades. Anyway, it’s probably a necessary consequence of working in a very small country. When I came back to Ireland, in 1997, we had enough trained epidemiologists to fill a modest dinner party. Matters are better now, and we’d fill a reasonably sized restaurant if we all went out together.
Many of the reports I have worked on are in the DCU repository.

There is one other health services researcher called Anthony Staines. He is Swiss, and publishes very good papers on various aspects of quality and safety in health care systems. We’ve not yet met, but hope to some day.
